LAPD May Have Erred in Ellen Dog Case

TMZ has spoken with law enforcement sources -- who now seem to acknowledge the LAPD may have made a mistake by letting Marina Batkis, owner of Mutts and Moms, take back the dog Ellen DeGeneres gave to her hairstylist.

The story aired last night on TMZ TV.

31. Pay-it-forward. Give the young lady her dog (back), and walk away.

32. I guess my question is how in the world did the dog agency get in the Ruby's parents house to take the dog? Or, did they demand the dog back at the front door and the parents handed Iggy over? There would be no way I would let them in my house.

33. Does the LAPD mandate an IQ test for their recruits and disqualify those who score triple digits?

35. Boycott Mutts and Moms and put those lowlifes out of business!

36. I think Helen was in the wrong....she knew what she signed and has to abide by the rules like anyone of us have to. Thats the problem with celebrities they think they are above the law....I think the bawling on tv was just a ploy to get sympathy from her audience.

37. Another example of how cops don't follow the law just kinda improvising along the way, easily influenced by any one who seems to exhibit a strong authoritarian persona.

38. What if the judge offered to cut the dog in half and give it to each of them. Who would offer to give the dog up first? The one who truly loves the dog? Then that one should be the one to keep the dog! Anyone ever hear of that being done before in history?

39. Hey Trais you moron.....these people have found hundreds of homes for dogs and were doing fine until someone who thinks she is above the law enters the picture. Do you think you would have got all this attention if you had been the one giving the dog away....I DONT THINK SO

I agree with your post and am just sick at the damage that has been done by this person Marina Batkis / Mutts & Moms.
Her deviant behavior is scary and I am not sure she needs to be running a shelter of any kind. Her priorities are way screwed up.
It's not about the dogs at all with her.

42. 36...jmo You are an idiot in plain and simple terms! "Animal fanatics"???!!!! I shouldn't even spend 1 second on your illiterate post but people like you need to just shut up! Ellen didn't BUY the dog she adopted him...the world needs more animal fanatics because each year millions of dogs and cats are euthanized because of rotten people who just don't give a damn. Yeah I'm one of those fanatics who treat my dog like a child, I don't have any children and she is my baby, there's nothing in the world I wouldn't do for her. I love animals and anyone who hurts an animal ought to be punished severely. It sounds like you are just one of those jerks who probably has a dog tied up to a tractor all year long who has a dog just for the sake of having one. Enough!

43. I think it's absolutely SHAMEFUL and DISGUSTING that the agency removed the dog. Shame on them! They are NOT looking out for the animals' welfare. In their quest to "follow the rules", they not only completely side-stepped common sense, but also the well-being of the dog.

It is understandable that Ellen is so shaken over this. She is BEGGING to have the dog returned to people who clearly LOVE him and NEED him. WHY OH WHY did that agency have to take such measures?..

It is so heartbreaking. Right now, as it stands, they are ruining their reputation. And they're also giving animal rescuers a bad name. As a vegan and animal rights activist, I have to try to "explain" somehow their actions to confused friends/relatives. NO ONE understands why the agency would do this. AND NEITHER DO I!!! SHAME ON THEM!

44. SOOOO, MOMS ARE THE MUTS IN THIS FIASCO!! BOYCOTT THEIR ASSES OUT OF BUSINESS ALREADY!!!

45. Now they realize it was wrong to let her take the dog?! They really need to fix this whole situation and just give Iggy back to Ruby and her family. It's really that simple! I don't think people should put Mutts&Moms out of business because it is an animal rescue place, they just need to replace Marina and all the other heartless people that work there.
