LAPD May Have Erred in Ellen Dog Case

TMZ has spoken with law enforcement sources -- who now seem to acknowledge the LAPD may have made a mistake by letting Marina Batkis, owner of Mutts and Moms, take back the dog Ellen DeGeneres gave to her hairstylist.

The story aired last night on TMZ TV.

91. Truthfully, I can't take this story any more....please let it rest!!
And let Ellen, Iggy, and whoever rest.
Gosh, there is no end to the craziness in LA.

92. #66 SillyMe - You certainly chose a fitting name for yourself. It was Mutts & Moms who originally threatened Ellen with "bringing in the media." I hope that this crazy organization does not affect a person's decision to adopt a shelter pet. Shelter dogs and cats make the best pets. I know, as do my two shelter dogs, two shelter cats and the horse I am currently fostering (who was a skeleton when he came to me.) I encourage people to deal with reputable agencies who are SPCA affiliated.

Peace all.

93. Stump: I'm not the attorney for Mutts and Moms, but its been reported that the corporation was suspended for not filing their yearly report (takes two seconds to complete, write a check and return) with the Secretary of State. They seem to have all sorts of problems with their paperwork, and changing the name on the microchip to accurately reflect Ellen's name. Frankly, I think someone should investigate the books of their corporate entity and their store front as who knows what these people are up to.

94. The owner of Mutts & Mos doesn't keep her dogs in cages actually, she keeps most of them at her home, unless they are about to be put down by the city of Pasadena (not M&M).

95. Maybe they should be called Mutts and Bitches. Ellen paid $3,000.00 for the dog and appropriate shots, etc. Did they charge the new owner, too? I and all my children and friends have adopted dogs and cats for years from shelters. Never were we called back after the adoptions. Sounds like the Bitches have a scam going on. Non-profit, my eye !!!!!!

96. FYI: Since Mutts and Moms, Inc., is a suspended non-profit corporation and cannot receive donations under that non-profit corporate umbrella, is Marina or Vanessa or Paw Boutique going to pay taxes on the sale of Iggy (to the tune of $600) to Ellen? Without the corporate umbrella that money is considered a sale and not a donation. Hmmm ---

I smell an audit : )

99. There are so many disgusting, nasty, and threatening comments being made. Why do any of you think that's necessary? Grow up and class up. Give us your opinion, tell us why, share an experience, etc. Just make sense and make it relevent for Pete's sake. You're making fools of yourselves.

100. For everyone out there up in arms over "adopting" a pet and "owning" a pet. This is so simple, you can't go into a childrens store and "buy" a child, you can however go into a pet store and "buy" a pet. Animals our owned.............they are not children.

101. Hey TMZ - your comment system is complete crap!!!

102. I don't know how that women can live with herself. She has some serious mental issues. How does one rescue animals but rips out the hearts of a family? I don't think she is a very good person at all. A person who cares that much doesn't go around ripping hearts out. I don't trust her or her business. She is not a nice person period. And people everywhere can rescue a pet from a shelter and not have to pay a high fee as she charges. Save a pet yourself and go to your local Humane Society and nurture it. Save $550.00 bucks from a thief like Marina Baktis. She stole twice. First time by ripping Ellen off and second by stealing the dog from a loving family.

Stay away from Mutts and Moms

Don't do business with people who rip you off!!

103. Can we please move along to a subject that matters??! Good-NIGHT! I wish we got as up in arms over a child being abused as we do over too many people wanting to safeguard some stupid, stinky mutt.

104. What the hell is wrong with some of these posts?. Seems like illiterate uneducated peopler are coming here to make odd statements of sorts.

105. While you condemn this business, Ellen signed an agreement that said if she decided she couldn't care for the dog, she'd return it. Many dog breeders have the same policy. It's in place to protect the animal. She broke the agreement, so she should have had to return the dog. Celebrity status doesn't give her the right to do whatever the hell she wants.

The people she gave the dog to had it for TWO WEEKS. Everyone acts as though the family had it for two years. Courts make no bones about coming in and removing a child from a home after five years with an adopted family. Perspective, folks.
